Website showing asp error message

Hey guys,

I am a newbie here, but would like some information on why my website is showing a error message like the one which is on it at the moment (w: http://www.dysphasia.co.uk).  I look forward to hearing some info and help on this.

Re: Website showing asp error message

@damouk23I checked your site and getting a 500 error when trying to access.

the error that shows is a generic error. You will need to add the following to your Web.Config file to see the specific error.

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Get detailed errors (Windows) use that article for information on enabling detailed errors.

@oslinux It's now giving me this:              Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy.  To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.

Apparently, from Microsoft, they've told me to do this:

"Are you using something requiring full trust, but not running an account that allows full trust, or have other than full trust specified in your web.config?

Check your web.config, and if you can't find the problem there, or fix it there, talk to GoDaddy." which I have done, and it's still giving me the description.  I need to talk to the tech help here at GoDaddy, but as I'm in the UK, they're not online until tomorrow, so I need to watch out for them.

@damouk23 you will need to add the following to your web config

<system.web>
  <securityPolicy>
    <trustLevel name="Full" policyFile="internal"/>
  </securityPolicy>
</system.web>

for more information you can reference the following sites.

@oslinux - the following is what I have in my web.config file in the system.web bit:

    <httpRuntime targetFramework="4.5.2"/>
    <httpModules>
      <add name="ApplicationInsightsWebTracking" type="Microsoft.ApplicationInsights.Web.ApplicationInsightsHttpModule, Microsoft.AI.Web"/>
    </httpModules>
  </system.web>

Re: Website showing asp error message

@damouk23 it looks like the issue is caused by something else. looking over the error message I am not seeing what is causing the issue however a search on the errors showed

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/38295216/securityexception-thrown-on-deployment

This appears to be an issue with a mismatch between the version of .NET I'm using to build my app and the one provided on the host.

Thank you Microsoft for another error message that seems to tell me nothing about what the underlying issue is.

 I also see this Godaddy help article

What trust level can I use when running ASP.NET?

Windows (Plesk)

Our Plesk shared hosting accounts default to 'medium trust.' However, you can change your trust settings on the ASP.NET settings in Plesk.

To Change Your Trust Level

Log in to your GoDaddy account.
Click Web Hosting.
Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Manage.
At the bottom of the section of the domain hosting you want to use, click Show More.
Click ASP.NET Settings.
From the CAS trust level menu, select the settings you want, and then click OK.

This would suggest the web config file is ignored and you would need to change the trust level from within the control panel.

I would recommend you check those and if you are still getting errors you may need to contact support

@oslinux I think that I need to go and chat to the Help lot.

Re: Website showing asp error message

@oslinux I've managed to sort it with the help of the support lines (was mostly me, but hey).  The website is now up and running at the address and it still has a lot of things needing go on it.  For example, as of yet, it doesn't work on the mobile technologies, e.g. mobiles phones, iPads, etc and the contact form isn't working which needs a rethink anyway.  It's coming on, the structure is there, it's just the loose ends that needs tying up.
