Anyone done this? I want to know how easy it is and the process. My site is currently managed by a friend and I need to take full control and host on a more cost effective system than wpengine.

@simonld2020 The easiest way would probably be to have your friend export your site within the Wordpress menu, have him send you the file and then setup hosting at Godaddy (if you use Chrome you can use the link in my signature for discounted plans) https://www.godaddy.com/hosting#popular
Then once you have a hosting plan install wordpress on the site, those instructions are here: https://www.godaddy.com/help/install-wordpress-on-a-web-or-classic-hosting-account-834
Once setup you can login to your wordpress site, go to "import" and import the data file that your friend exported for you.
