Custom Domains with GitHub Pages

Hi I'm trying to setup my godaddy domain DNS with github pages. I want `mycustomdomain.com` to point at my `username.github.io` static site. I'm following this guide: https://medium.com/@supriyakankure/how-to-add-a-custom-domain-to-your-github-page-with-godaddy-84495....

But I already have an A record which I can't modify and the CNAME setup fails with an unexpected error.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Custom Domains with GitHub Pages

If the domain has been forwarded or automatically connected this would need to be removed if you're going to edit the DNS manually.  Here is an article on the connection wizard, if anything is on in there make sure to turn it off.

https://www.godaddy.com/help/forward-a-domain-12123

A record-

Host: @

Points to: [IP address from below]

You can create multiple A records, one for each address.

  • 185.199.108.153
  • 185.199.109.153
  • 185.199.110.153
  • 185.199.111.153

CNAME record-

Host: www

Points to: [your-username].github.io

Make sure these are the only A records with host @, and only record for host www.
