About .ru Domains
RU-Center is the sponsor and Hexonet aka 1 Api GmbH is our backend provider for the country-code top-level domain name (ccTLD) .ru extension that represents Russia.
Who can register .ru domains?
Important Note: Effective March 1, 2022, GoDaddy no longer supports new registrations in for the .ru extensions. If you already owned a .ru domain with GoDaddy prior to March 1, 2022, you can continue to renew your existing .ru domain.
Registrants do not have the right to sell or transfer the domain name to any party for profit.
- .ru: Intended for commercial entities.
- .com.ru: Intended for commercial entities.
- .net.ru: Intended for network infrastructures, such as Internet Service Providers.
- .org.ru: Intended for noncommercial entities.
Features
- Registration length: Not supported
- Renewal length: 1 year
- You can renew .ru, .com.ru, .net.ru, and .org.ru domain names when they are within 61 days prior to the expiration date, but you must renew them before their expiration date. The renewal date depends on whether the domain name is auto-renewed or renewed manually. Auto-renewal is attempted 21 days prior to the domain name's expiration. If the renewal attempt fails, we re-attempt renewal 14 days prior to expiration. If the second attempt fails, we try one more time 7 days prior to the expiration date.
- If we cannot auto-renew the domain name and you do not manually renew it 7 days prior to the expiration date, it must be redeemed. There might be a fee for the redemption. See Renew my expired domain for instructions on the redemption.
- For example: Your .ru, .com.ru, .net.ru, and .org.ru domain name expires on October 1. If your domain name does not renew automatically, you can renew it manually by September 24. For automatic renewals, we attempt to renew the domain name on September 10, September 17, and September 24.

- To change the registrant information on your .ru domain names, please reach out to our GoDaddy Guides for help. All other contact information can be changed through the Domain Manager in your GoDaddy account.

- Must use: 2-13 Nameservers, Authoritative
- Can use: IPv4
- Cannot use: IPv6, DNSSEC, host names, Only allows 2 different IPs for nameservers
Note: Nameserver updates may take up to 5 days to complete.
