Cancel Protected Registration

If you want to remove Protected Registration from your domain name, how you do so depends on how long ago you purchased it:

Purchased more than 5 days ago

Before you can remove Protected Registration, you will need to enable two-step verification in your account if you haven't done so already. Once you enable it, you will need to wait 72 hours before you can cancel Protected Registration.

To cancel Protected Registration (after 72 hours):

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.
  2. Next to Domains, click Manage.
  3. Click the image that matches what you see in your account:

  1. Select the domain name you want to use, click Text Icon (Settings) and select Domain Settings.
  2. Under Additional Settings, click the text link to remove Protected Registration:

  4. Once you click the text link, the Remove Protected Registration button appears:
  5. If you haven't logged into your account recently, you'll be prompted to enter a 6-digit verification code you'll receive as part of your two-step verification process:

  7. You'll receive the following notice:

Some features may be unavailable while we are removing Protected Registration from your account.


  1. Next to the domain you want to use, under the Privacy column, hover over the green arrow until the word Manage appears, and click on it:
  2. Under Additional Settings, click the text link to remove Protected Registration:
  3. Remove Protected Registration Link

  4. Once you click the text link, the Remove Protected Registration button appears:
  5. If you haven't logged into your account recently, you'll be prompted to enter a 6-digit verification code you'll receive as part of your two-step verification process:

  7. You'll receive the following notice:

Purchased within the last 5 days

Contact customer support as soon as possible.
